STOP PRESS:

Llanfyllin Ambulance Support:

Following the meeting in Penybontfawr on 27th May County Councillor Mayor has advised that:

There is no intention of removing the ambulance from Llanfyllin. There is talk about closing the actual Station but moving the location to the Fire Station, as it would be better located nearer to the main road for speed.

By the Autumn we should have a full number of paramedics drawn from the locality. The Service has had trouble in recruitment to the Station, as many paramedics wished to be based in a city/large town. However, this recruitment has focused on local people wishing to stay in rural mid-Wales. By the end of this year they are recruiting for drivers who will do non-emergency transfers.

The Service is keen to invest in a fast response vehicle for the area.

Due to the rural nature of our area, response times to emergencies of 8 minutes will always be difficult, if not impossible. The Service is keen to train more First Responders. This has been very successful and they are keen to train more. Also they would encourage communities to raise funds for a defibrillator, something we are already doing in Llangynog.
