The Farming of Our Forefathers

Llangynog WI summer outing, to Acton Scott Farm, took members back to when farming was much more labour intensive, mechanisation was in its infancy, and horses were still the main source of power.

As well as early farm implements and equipment, there were many different breeds of poultry and other farm animals to be seen.

Members had a glimpse into rural domestic life as they toured the Victorian farmhouse and kitchen garden.

Enjoyment of the day was enhanced by the glorious weather; with ice-cream and tea in the grounds a must.

The ‘Old Hall’ Persian Restaurant in Dorrington was a fine choice of venue to round off a most interesting and pleasant day. A wide selection of delicious, traditional Persian dishes, in the form of a ‘tasting banquet’, provided a really memorable experience.
