Matters Arising from Previous Meeting:
Proposed Closure of Public Toilets by Powys County Council: Powys County Council have advised that there will be no further action on this until after the budget debate at the end of February and that negotiations will take place with Town and Community Councils between then and April 2015, when final decisions will be reached.
Community Website: The Website is now online and can be accessed via www.llangynog.org. Members of the Community are encouraged to support this venture, which is being provided for the benefit of all.
Grant for St Melangell’s Churchyard from Rothschild Foundation: The Clerk advised that further correspondence on this matter had been received from Mr Freeman-Attwood, who has indicated he would be willing to help with the maintenance of the yew trees. It was resolved to request that he liaises with the Community Council when any work was to be carried out.
Donation from Pearce Cycles, Ludlow: The Clerk advised that the donation of £250 had been received from Pearce Cycles, the organizers of the annual Rhydefelin Downhill Bike Race, in appreciation of the co-operation and help given to them by the community of Llangynog, had since been received by the Hall Committee.
Outstanding Roadworks: County Councillor Mayor had contacted the Highways Department about all of the concerns about outstanding roadworks and a response has been received from them advising that Tilhill Forestry will be carrying out the work to adapt the entrance to their access road within two to three months. They will be contacting Community Councillor John Jones about the potholes on Quarry Road and hope to install the warning bollards on the verge at the brow of the hill by Bryn Glas, within the next week.
Any Other Business:
Flooding on upper Pennant Road: Community Councillor Tibbot reported on a meeting he had on site with Adrian Jarvis, Highways Operations Manager, on Thursday 13th February, when it was agreed that a new culvert would be constructed to take away the water and an open ditch constructed along the hedge in the adjacent field, provided permission could be obtained from the owner of the land. It was suggested by Community Councillor Williams that dredging of the upper reaches of the river would also help.
Requests for use of Playing Field: Following consideration of applications for use of the Playing Field by children attending functions in the Memorial Hall on Saturday 17th May and Saturday 23rd August, it was resolved to grant permission and advise that it would be at the risk of the organisers.
